Description
After weeks of heavy snows, I photographed these massive sandstone cliffs on the Colorado River. This view is from Potash Road in the BLM Colorado Riverway near Moab, Utah. In the distance it is snowing over The Portal, a narrow section where the Colorado River has cut through the sandstone leaving spectacular red cliffs. In the foreground, Yucca plants are growing, with remains of dried flower stalks. Yucca is common to arid regions, like this area of high desert.
